Prepare to be captivated by Mesquite, a resilient canine who has been awaiting a forever home for more than 1,060 days at our rescue facility. Despite his challenging past, he still exudes potential, and is poised to flourish with a dedicated individual who can provide a safe and nurturing environment. Mesquite requires a hero who can offer a peaceful retreat with a fenced-in yard (he cannot be walked on a leash), where he can live life on his own terms. Mesquite has an affectionate side to him from time to time, but prefers to control the interaction and normally wants companionship with limited touching. Mesquite will bite if made uncomfortable or scared. This 11-year-old mixed breed has been in our care since 2022 and is living with dementia, making a calm and understanding home essential for his golden years. Mesquite does get along with other dogs. He has not been cat tested and should not be around children.
