A Forever Home Animal Rescue

We are a 501(3)(c) non-profit organization saving lives throughout Florida. At AFHAR we give homeless dogs a place to be loved, cared for, trained and hope for a home. Our average intake is about 20 dogs per month coming in from shelters, as strays, or owners who can no longer care for their pet.

Our Rescue

A Forever Home Animal Rescue, Inc. is a compassionate no-kill organization with two decades of experience in rescuing, fostering, and finding loving homes for animals. At AFHAR, we've worked with various breeds and sizes of dogs; however, due to current facility constraints, we are presently focusing on small dogs weighing no more than 25 pounds. Our mission is to help you find a dog that perfectly matches your home and lifestyle.

We are committed to fostering kindness and respect towards animals while educating people about the significant commitment that comes with pet ownership. Alarmingly, 2.7 million dogs and cats are euthanized annually in our country. We must address this heartbreaking issue and discourage breeding for profit. Remember, puppies in pet stores often originate from puppy mills. We urge you to adopt, not shop! Thank you for your support.

What is No Kill?

According to the Humane Society of the United States, around 2.7 million healthy and adoptable cats and dogs are euthanized annually in shelters across the country. This makes animal shelter euthanasia the leading cause of death for these pets in the United States. The term "No Kill" refers to a policy where euthanasia is reserved solely for animals that are either dangerously aggressive or suffering from untreatable medical conditions. AFHAR is committed to this model and strives to create a no-kill community and nation. The most successful communities worldwide aim for a save rate of 90% or higher for dogs and cats. At AFHAR, our success rate for maintaining a no-kill environment is 99%. Here, it doesn’t matter if the animals are old, blind, deaf, missing limbs, or traumatized. We believe all animals are worthy of compassion, can find loving homes, and deserve a chance.
