We see a lot of cruel and heartless things, and this is in the top 10. A friend found a dog in the woods, near a boat ramp who was close to death. He was totally emaciated (vet said his body weight scale is a 2 out of 9). He was covered in ticks throughout his entire body. There were at least 100 that they got off of him. The vet said that he is probably 14 years old, has a heart murmur 5 out of 6, has cataracts and mostly blind and an ulcerated cornea. We have done complete blood work and are waiting for the results. It is unknown how long he was out there without anyone saving him. He probably wouldn’t have lasted much longer. We’ve named him Murphy. He definitely has the will to live. He is eating and drinking but is so weak that he can barely move. It is incomprehensible and heartbreaking that someone would toss a senior dog (or any pet) out to die a long and painful death when there are so many options. We are doing all we can to save him and give him all the love and pampering that he deserves. If you can no longer care for your pet, please contact a rescue or bring him to the local animal shelter. Don’t let him suffer. Please pray for sweet Murphy.
